Whether you have listened to the show for years, are curious about its characters and stories, or simply love a thoughtful conversation, you are among friends here.

We explore The Archers in all its richness, not just as entertainment but as a window into everyday life, community, society, and the issues that matter to us all.

Our Community

Academic Archers are people with an academic interest in BBC Radio 4’s The Archers, whether or not they have any formal qualifications. We are all Ambridge Research Fellows.

Whether you’ve listened to the show for years, are curious about its characters and stories, or just love thoughtful conversations, you’re among friends here.

We explore The Archers in all its richness - not just as entertainment, but as a window into everyday life, community, society, and the issues that matter to us all.

Our Values

Curiosity -
asking questions, exploring deeper meanings.

Joyfulness -
celebrating the richness of The Archers with humour and warmth.

Generosity -
welcoming all fans, whether they’re academic or not.

4500+ Facebook group members

Much of our chatter happens day to day in our Facebook group, where more than 4,500 Ambridge Research Fellows swap theories, share news and dig into the week's goings-on. It is a friendly, welcoming place, and a fine spot to introduce yourself, ask a question, or simply enjoy the company of fellow Ambridge fans.

1700+ Conference delegates

We have been lucky enough to have some of our conferences filmed over the years, and you can watch them on our YouTube channel.

It is a lovely way to catch a talk you missed, revisit an old favourite, or get a feel for what conference actually looks like before you join us in person.

300+ Conference presenters

Six series of Academic Archers presentations are waiting for you on our podcast.

It is the perfect way to dig into the talks at your own pace, whether you are catching up on a conference you missed, listen again, or simply after some thoughtful company on the commute or the washing-up. Pop the kettle on, press play, and lose yourself in a little scholarly Ambridgology.

You will also find us posting away on Bluesky, where we share conference news, ticket releases and the odd bit of Ambridge chatter as it happens.

It is a quick, easy way to keep up with what we are doing between conferences, and a friendly place to join the conversation. Give us a follow and say hello.
